Week 3

This week Dr.Zul introduce us to his wordpress, drzulkifliahmad.wordpress.com that purposely made for his students to share knowledge, information, experiences, skills pertaining to CALL( Computer Assisted Language Learning). During this week lecture also we were given our task for this subject in more details rather than the simple explanation from the first week.

Project 1

Find 5 Facebook friends according to the 5 Domain Personalities and do a research about the word concordance using AntConc. 

Project 2

Make a questionnaire about the aspect that is being imply by the Facebook users using Survey Monkey.

Project 3

Create our own WordPress so that we can write the results from our research about the language and personalities of Facebook users.

We were also advised to consult with our lecturer, Dr.Zaini about this and the improvement of our reseacrh about the 5 Facebook friends Domain Personalities.

Week 2

This week during lecture, Dr.Zul lecture us about phonoeme and the usage of it. Although we have learn this in Semester 1 during Language and Linguistics with Dr.Fariza. So, this week lecture refresh us a little about phonemes for example [    ] is the symbol for phoneme and /     / is the symbol to verify the phoneme. Also, Dr.Zul show us the vowel chart for phoneme on the screen and explained it to us.

Week 1

“Bahasa dan Teknologi Maklumat” class  was the first class to begin for the second semester. As the coordinator, Dr.Zulkifli Ahmad gives us some introduction about the course because this is the first time i learn this subject. As he lecture, we were inform that we, the whole class including the Linguistics students have to make our own WordPress to post the learning outcome that we gained during lecture and tutorial class. I forgot to mention that for this subject, we have to combined our class with Linguistics student that Dr.Zul himself will be incharged of teaching them while English Language Studies class will be teached by Dr.Zaini.  We were also inform that for the WordPress, 20% will be given for the usability of the wordpress with what we have learn during our class session and writing reports for our assignments and another 20% will be awarded for the creativity. So, a total of 40% will be awarded to students. Using Survey Monkey to make our own questions for the questionnaire purposely to be given out to other students will be given 20% to students and make sure that the questions are useful for research later. By this course also, the students are introduce to a new programme, that is Antconc, a programme that study concordance of word use and also to determine the frequency of word. Futhermore, we the students use this programme correctly, they will be awarded with 20% marks. Lastly, Online test will be done later and will be given 20% for students who got all answers correct. Hope this course will help me out to learn more about technology and at the same time the language itself that i sometimes still confuse about it.
